Love songs took the spotlight recently at The Venue at Hammond’s Horseshoe Casino.
Air Supply was in the house and entertaining fans with a collection of their biggest hits.
Australian singers Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock, best known as the musical duo Air Supply, are pretty much a staple on easy listening retro radio stations to this day. Air Supply, who took a starring role on the record charts during the 1980s and into the ’90s, is still going strong and the duo’s show at The Venue proved their tunes still stand the test of time.
While this recent show wasn’t a holiday concert, the subject matter of the majority of their tunes revolves around the spirit of love – lost love, unrequited love, thrilling love.
One might say Air Supply’s feel-good concert was a fitting start to this holiday season. Among highlighted tunes on the playlist were “Here I Am (Just When I Thought I Was Over You)”; “Two Less Lonely People In the World”; “The One That You Love”; “Lost in Love”; “All Out of Love”; and “The Vanishing Race,” a song performed by Graham Russell.
Throughout the show, the duo exhibited an openess to interacting with their fans as they walked through the audience to sing, shake hands and take photos.
Fans sang along to many of the hits throughout the show. Air Supply is currently on a tour that will take them through the spring and summer. Among upcoming Midwest concerts are April 11 at French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind. and April 18 at James W. Miller Auditorium in Kalamazoo, Mich. Visit airsupply.com.
