The Yad Vashem Museum in Israel, which is one of the world’s largest and most well-known exhibits commemorating the Holocaust, has been ranked as the 10th best museum in the world by the popular travel and review website TripAdvisor.
The museum, situated in Jerusalem, was given several thousand reviews of “excellent” by visitors on TripAdvisor. “It was an extremely emotional and inspiring experience,” declared one reviewer. “It will change you and the way you view life. It is made even better by hiring a tour guide.”
In response to the prestigious designation, Yad Vashem Chairman Avner Shalev said the museum’s high ranking demonstrates the Holocaust’s “place as a pivotal cultural-historic event for the entire human society.”
TripAdvisor, which utilizes user-generated reviews to provide ratings of tourist destinations and sites around the world, published its list of the world’s top 25 museums last week. The most highly ranked museum was the Art Institute of Chicago.
