Turkish authorities detained four people following information about a possible attack against British and German embassies, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency reported Friday.
Turkish Interior Ministry officials told Anadolu that no links had been found between the suspects and extremist organizations nor any concrete threats.
It was unclear whether the suspects remained in custody.
Nonetheless, Britain’s foreign office announced on its website that its embassy in Ankara had been closed over unspecified security reasons.
Britain’s ambassador in Ankara Richard Moore said that the embassy’s closure was an “appropriate precaution.”
The German embassy announced on its website that its diplomatic missions would only be open for limited operations.
