Adolf Hitler was secretly addicted to crystal meth, one of the most dangerous and addictive illegal substances in contemporary times that was prominently featured in the famous TV series ‘Breaking Bad’, researchers have revealed.

According to a newly released World War II US Military Intelligence dossier, the Nazi leader was a hypochondriac, and took over 72 medications including the crystal methamphetamines.

The drug gained notice over the years as it was the subject of the viral hit TV series ‘Breaking Bad’, in which the drug was manufactured by a cancer-stricken teacher-turned-drug dealer Walter White. The drug is heavily prized by addicts for the feeling of euphoria it produces.

The drug, reports note, was also valued by the militia during the war as it is known to have helped fighters cope with the effects of fatigue and stress, the Daily Mail notes.

The Nazi dictator is believed to have taken the drug before a meeting with Mussolini in the summer of 1943, where he ranted non-stop for two hours, the new research says adding that he had nine injections of a drug called Vitamultin, which contains methamphetamine, when he spent his final days in a bunker.

The 47-page dossier is the subject of a new documentary titled “Hitler’s Hidden Drug Habit’ which is set to air on Sunday, 19 October in British Channel 4.

The Military intelligence’ revelation also says that Hitler became addicted to drugs after meeting Berlin doctor Therodor Morell, thought to be a successful but unconventional physician. The doctor gained popularity within Nazi party in 1933, when he treated a friend of Hitler, photographer Heinrich Hoffman.

During his final years from 1942 until his death in 1945, Hitler was also given intravenous injections of methamphetamine by his the doctor, known as “Reichsmaster of injections” by the Nazis.

The doctor is known to have given Hitler an array of other dizzying drugs, including testosterone injections containing bull’s semen, heart and liver extracts, nasal and eye drops containing cocaine, and ‘adrenocorticosteroids’, among other drugs.

It is also noted that the methamphetamine he consumed, might have contributed to Hitler showing signs of Parkinson’s disease as the war dragged on with one of his top generals, Heinz Guderian, once writing: “It was no longer his left hand but the whole of his left side of his body that trembled…He walked awkwardly, stooped more than ever and his gestured were both jerky and slow”, the Times of Israel notes.
